Luke joined M. Hamel-Smith & Co. in September 2005. He practises as an Instructing Attorney in the area of intellectual property, within which his focus has been on prosecution of complex trade mark refusals by the Intellectual Property Office, and also does commercial litigation. He was appointed Senior Associate in 2008.

Current Involvement
· Commercial Litigation - Research in complex commercial matters including advising on telecommunication compliance issues for an international telecommunications provider and an international software manufacturer.
· Intellectual Property - Trademark and patent applications, with a focus on responding to refusals by the Intellectual Property Office and third party Oppositions to trade mark applications.
· Invited to be a member of a Committee appointed by the Controller of the Intellectual Property Office to participate in discussions on the development of a new trademark bill for Trinidad and Tobago.
· Actively engaged in discussions with WIPO consultants and the Intellectual Property Office on the possibility of establishing of a regional patent administration for the Caribbean.
